Enrico Facini was born in Lucca/Italy, where he initially trained as a singer at the Instituto Musicale L. Boccherini. Other stages in his career took him to Pisa, Milan, and Trieste. He gained international attention when he won the first prize at the International Concorso M. Battistini 1982; this award gave him the opportunity to make his singing debut as „Conte di Almaviva“ in Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia in Rieti/Italy. Since then, he has been constantly present on the major stages of Italian and international operas and festivals. Facini’s repertoire is characterised by an unusually broad spectrum, ranging from Monteverdi to Mozart and Donizetti, Verdi and Puccini through to Wagner, Strauss and Benjamin Britten. He has worked with directors such as Claudio Abbado, Antonio Pappano, Lorin Mazeel, Zubin Mehta, Jeffrey Tate, De Burgos, Gustav Kuhn, Rene Jacobs and others.
Since 2008, he has been teaching as a professor for singing at the University of Arts Berlin (Universität der Künste) and is particularly committed to training and promoting the rising generation of singers.
In this context, he founded a master class programme of his own in the Italian region of Marche in 2009. He recorded for EMI, DECCA, Deutsche Grammophon, Arte Nova, Bongiovanni, Navos, Coriolan Classic and more.
Enrico Facini has been singing at major opera and concert houses of the world for over 30 years, and been teaching singers in international master classes for 15 years, included “Neue Stimmen” in Gütersloh und Il Cairo.
As a teacher, he emphasises breathing techniques and developing the individual voice in particular. He helps the young singers to correct estimate their own vocal colour and quality, and to use their potential in a ery conscious and responsible way.
The presure to succeed that singers are subject to is greater today than ever. For this reason, Enrico Facini´s master classes focus on finding and mantaining the balance between short-term “limelight” and sustained diligence for every singer.
Thanks to many years experience, Facini contrives to detect and develop solutions for the fundamental difficulties, risk and opportunities in a short period of time.
In this way, he has helped many the most of his students to find and go their own way.
