The Swiss clarinetist, Fabio Di Cāsola, gained international recognition following his first prize winning performance at the CIEM International Music Competition in Geneva. A series of invitations followed to such prestigious events as the Evian Music Festival by Mstislav Rostropovich and the Berliner Festspiele by Claudio Abbado.
Di Cāsola went on to win further competitions including the 'Grand Prix Patek Philippe', the 'Prix Suisse' for contemporary music and the International Competition for Contemporary Music in Stresa. These awards paved the way for numerous important musical productions with eminent conductors, soloists and chamber music ensembles; cooperation with Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Spivakov, Armin Jordan, Heinz Holliger, the Carmina Quartet and with 'Sine Nomine'.
Fabio Di Cāsola was nominated Swiss musician of the Year 1998 by an experts jury and public listeners.
He has been the solo clarinetist with the 'Orchester Musikkollegium Winterthur' for 20 years, from 1991 until 2011. He is a professor for clarinet and chamber music at the Zurich University of the Arts and artistic director of the Ģ Klang ģ concerts (www.klang.ch).
