Dany Bonvin, who was born in 1964 at Crans-Montana, studied at the Bern Music Conservatory under B. Slokar. There he obtained both a teaching diploma and a soloist’s diploma (Tschummi prize in 1988). The winner of several international contests (Vercelli, Toulon), in 1986 he was awarded the Swiss soloist’s prize in Basle. Since the age of 17, he has held the position of first trombonist in the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by J. Levine. Enriched by his knowledge of the symphonic repertoire (world tours and about 1500 concerts to his credit), he also performs as a soloist with several famous orchestras (OCL, OSR, Berne Symphony Orchestra) and gives duo recitals with an organist. As the founder of the Munich Trombone Quartet and of the Blechsaden Ensemble, he was moreover a Jury Member at the International Geneva Contest in 1998. He has been a professor at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, since 1999.
