Born in Zurich, Switzerland.

 Musical studies with Georges Janzer and Bruno Giuranna.

 Winner of the Soloist’s Prize of the Swiss Musician’s Association. Solo performances with such conductors as Erich Leinsdorf, Myung Whun Chung, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Armin Jordan, Eliahu Inbal.

 From 1973 until 1988 member of the New Zurich String Quartet. Tours in Europe, Scandinavia, North and South America as well as Israel. Numerous CD recordings with the quartet and as a soloist.

Chamber music partner of Martha Argerich, Bruno Canino, Heinz Holliger, Antony Pay, Mischa Maisky, Aurčle Nicolet, the Sine Nomine Quartet, the Smetana and the Prazak Quartet.

Founder and artistic director of Ensemble MOBILE which dedicates itself to performances of rarely heard chamber music masterworks. From 1993 until 2004, violist with the ARIA String Quartet and, after 2005, the Quatuor Schumann, Geneva.

Professor for Viola and Chamber Music at the Basle Music Academy as well as the Musikhochschule Winterthur. Summer Master Classes in Europe, North and South America. Guest Professor at the Menuhin Academy in Gstaad. Jury member for International Viola and Chamber Music Competitions. Conductor of Symphony and Chamber Orchestras.
