Clifton MATTHEWS

A member of the artist-faculty of the North Carolina School of the Arts, Clifton Matthews holds several degrees from the Juilliard School. He pursued further studies in Munich, and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He was first prize winner of the Casella piano prize in Siena, and has been honoured by the University of North Carolina with the Governor’s Award for excellence in teaching. He performs regularly in recitals in the United States and Europe, and has given many premier performances of contemporary works. He has given master classes in Europe and Quebec. A number of Mr. Matthews’ students have won prizes in piano competitions. His large and sensitive experience is very appreciated by young pianists.
