Nobuko IMAI
Nobuko Imai is considered to be one of the most outstanding viola players of our time. She won the highest prizes at both Munich and Geneva international competitions. Having formerly been a member of the esteemed Vermeer Quartet, she now combines a distinguished international solo career with teaching at the Academy of Music in Detmold and at the Conservatory in Amsterdam. She has appeared with the most famous orchestras in the world. She is Artistic Adviser at the Casals Hall in Tokyo, where she regularly performs with major orchestras. She has appeared at many well known festivals around the world and has often performed chamber music with many distinguished names (Yo Yo Ma, Andràs Schiff, Isaac Stern and Pinchas Zuckerman etc…). She frequently tours with Midori, performing chamber music. Nobuko Imai’s recordings include an impressive list of over 20 CDs. Furthermore she has recently founded the ensemble East West Baroque Academy for young professional musicians.
